Hello everyone, welcome back to another Theme Park Wizard update! Today I will be going over some photos from @bioreconstruct on Twitter of the Disneyland Resort that he shot last week. Definitely go visit his Twitter account for awesome aerials of places and theme parks mostly in Orlando, but occasionally out here as well, so let’s get started!
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
As you can see in this fantastic shot, land clearing and site prep is well underway for the attraction just north of Toontown. The size of the show building is actually larger than Toontown itself. By the time Spring comes we should be seeing this building going vertical, the attraction is slated to open in 2022.
Starting from the top of the land and moving down you can see one of the two plazas near the Parade Route and the Spiderman attraction under construction. Moving down you can see the narrow walkway in between Spiderman and the WEB Suppliers gift shop leading to the more central part of the campus. This is the main dirt area that will house the Avengers Logo, the Doctor Strange show, and Pym Foods. This will also lead to the Avengers E ticket when it opens in a few years.
Lastly, we have a fresh look at Tomorrowland. As you can see most of the rocks are removed and the only thing that remains under construction walls is the E.E.R building that controls the audio effects for the Astro Orbitor. More work is rumored to be coming to this area and the rest of Tomorrowland this Spring, so it will be very interesting to see what happens.
Well that is all for today’s Disneyland Resort update! Comment below what you think of the ongoing projects at the resort and what are you most excited for?
It’s that time of the year again where the two holidays of Halloween and Christmas collide. Christmas decorations are already being set up at both Disney and Universal and now we are starting to get more information on Grinchmas with some pretty awesome news.
This awesome news is that this year Grinchmas will start on Thanksgiving Day and will run DAILY (instead of the previous just on weekends) through December 29th. Also starting at this time will be the Christmas at the Wizarding Wold of Harry Potter celebration with Christmas themed shows and entertainment including the ever popular projection show on Hogwarts Castle.
The holiday themed food and Hot Butterbeer will also be making a return and eveyr night at Universal Plaza there will be a Whoville themed lighting celebration to light the 55 foot Grinchmas Tree. As I have stated in previous articles about the holidays Christmas is my favorite time of the year at the SoCal parks and I am so excited to celebrate again this year!
What about all of you? Are you excited for Grinchmas this year? Let me know in the comments below and give this page a follow for constant holiday updates and footage!
Sleeping Beauty Castle is starting to undergo its Winter transformation at the Disneyland Resort. This week the first markings of snowfall have occurred with the rest of the roofing and turrets expected to get snow throughout the coming weeks. Next the icicles will be installed and the castle will be in the holiday spirit by the time the holidays start November 8th.
Each night guests gather in the Hub around 6pm for the Lighting Ceremony that includes music, lighting of the castle and Small World Holiday facade, as well as a snowfall. Are you all excited for the holidays at the resort? What’s your favorite thing about the holidays at Disneyland? Let me know in the comments below!
Holiday World in Indiana is looking to be and will be the water coaster capital of the world when their brand new water coaster Cheetah Chase opens up next year. Cheetah Chase will be the world’s first racing and launching water coaster and the first to be doing a complete circuit.
Riders will be launched 25 feet up a lift hill using ProSlide Blast Technology and will be zipping along at a speed of 27 mph along the 852 foot full circuit course. Each raft will fit up to three people and duel head to head to see who can win the race! What do you guys think of this new addition? Comment below your thoughts on this water coaster and your thoughts on the evolution of water slides in general.
THEME PARK WIZARD SUPPORTS ALS AND YOU CAN TOO!
The ALS Foundation of Southern California has a couple of events coming up that I would love to sponsor, especially since the sponsorship money goes to ALS to help research ways to fight this disease! If you would like to help me sponsor a water station at the upcoming Ventura ALS Walk click here! I am almost halfway to my goal!
